Dart League

I got called in as a last-minute sub in my buddy's dart league game. I was SUPER rusty at first, but then found my right set of darts and started hitting my spots. As long as I don't screw up this last round, we should be a lock to win!

Fall Time Beach

Gorgeous fall afternoon on the Lake Champlain shore. You can't quite make it out here, but the trees across the lake in NY are bright with gorgeous fall colors.

Friendly wrestle

No, this isn't a Vick-style dog fight, but rather an adorable morning doggie wrestle between two gorgeous husky mutts. That's some good & tough love! Their parents are pretty cute together too. :)

Rodrigo y Gabriela review

Quite a fantastic show last night. This guitar duo is taking the planet by storm, as was evidenced by the sold-out crowd at the 9:30 Club, which was the last stop of the American leg of their tour. I showed up expecting a primarily flamenco show with a couple rock tunes mixed in, but it turned out to be a rock show with some flamenco spice mixed in.

Check out this cool review on the site DCist. I couldn't have described it better. I actually took their brief guitar lessons to heart, and even made sure to heed Rodrigo's "upward picking" advice during my practice guitar session out on the patio today. I love how the percussive little Gabriela isn't afraid to drop f-bombs in her Mexican accent to the sold-out crowd. They're truly some unique rock stars!

Patio-scaping complete!

No, I can't take credit for this work, but I was the waste removal engineer and door jockey! So many roses... And now I can get on with my afternoon.

Woah, Umphrey's McGlee

I love mirror balls! Incredibly, these dudes played all 3 of my favs from their repertoire, and #1 was the encore. Nasty. So many glorious moments and teases. Could anyone believe that right now, riding home in the car, we're listening to a soundboard cd of tonight's show? Technology is rad, man.

What a rebel

That's Che! I mean Trey! W/ a cigarillo. Monkey time!

Wintry Wonderdream

After having gone for an extended night-time run (perhaps my longest ever without a stop?), and knowing well that I wouldn't be getting up for work in the morning, I laid my heavy head to rest last night with the full intention of having an incredibly deep and satisfying sleep. And when that happens, epic dreams can often ensue. Last night was no exception. Here are some of the most significant elements from the night's mental adventures:

An excitement in the air of preparing for a wintry festival. Maybe it was because Shawn told me that there's no snoe.down fest in 2008? Bummer.
  • An excessive snowball fight in Burlington's City Hall Park, but all the young kids thought I was being immature.
  • Lots of time picking out travel food packets in an outdoor gear store. I was of course looking for the beefy meals, but all I could find were mega-sized stout-flavored chocolate bars made by Magic Hat (hmmm maybe that's a good idea?). Meanwhile, I was also eavesdropping on Al Bundy speaking Ukrainian (probably because the book I read right before lights-out is set in the Ukraine) as he selected a new pair of hockey skates.
  • Playing with enormous, slimy tropical rain forest frogs in a bizarre display in the outdoor gear store. If you could guess how many were in the display, you'd win a prize! Just to give you an idea of the large number of frogs in there, the closest anyone had come was within 17!
  • Encountering my cousin outside of the gear store, acting shady with an old high school friend of mine, Jake (and they definitely have never met!).
  • Bumping into my mom in the aisles of a health food store; she was wearing a brand-crispy-new, old-school Hartford Whalers hat. I think she had become famous from her books and was rolling out incognito!
I enjoy that sense of satisfaction upon waking from such a lengthy and interesting adventure. Sp cheers to R.E.M. sleep!

Night Brass

While cruising out to meet a couple friends at a bar right near Dupont Circle last week, I mosied off in the direction of some seriously loud and vivacious sound, which turned out to be this fantastic band! They seemed a little out of place for 11pm, but the passers-by were all a bit more enthused for their evenings. Especially me!

Guess it's my turn...

Is this really how I can be summed up? I'm sure you could find an example to make me fit into each of these 6 adjectives. But how could I be young if Morgan is old? Ah, maturity! That's right, I'm still a little goofball.

What Bryant Means

R is for Radiant

Y is for Young

A is for Alluring

N is for Neat

T is for Twisted

That's It!

It's over. The highest-paid, most stacked-with-talent team in all of sports. Shitting the bed. Pathetic. And the end of the Joe Torre era. A sad night for the Yankee Universe. At least I can divert that baseball attention to Morgan now! Well, at least until April, but that ain't bad, right? ;) Ha!

Q Street Bridge!

It's also called the Dumbarton Bridge. Now, I usually roll over the P Street bridge for convenience, but once in a while it's worth mixing it up on Q. It's quieter, classier, and has a much better view. See that grey speck on the horizon? Washington Monument! Looks amazing in person, trust me. This town can definitely be quite beautiful, and it feels like it's all mine. Good night folks!

Caramel skies

I know it's hard to tell, but that is one sweet freaking sky. The cloud smears are actually orange and moving very fast, and it looks like molten caramel flowing through Jagermeister! Gorgeous. I wish Morgan was here with me to enjoy this. ;)

Tokens!

Tokens? For taking a pee? The thing was smaller than a dime, and I needed to go up 3 flgihts of stairs to get there. Guess that's what I get for having a few beers in a bookstore. Ah well, at least it smelled nice up there.
